About the Exchange ProgramEstablished in 2016, the HOL Exchange Program provides HOL students with the opportunity to study at another Magical Education Institute for the duration of one term. Currently, students are able to study at the Beauxbatons Academy of Magic in Southern France. A similar exchange opportunity is being discussed with Durmstrang Institute for the Spring term. You will find more information below, including the specific requirements to successfully complete your exchange and gain HOL credit for your term abroad.

Why choose an exchange? |
The Exchange Program provides an invaluable opportunity to learn about different aspects of Wizarding Education. Those who are interested in a career at a Wizarding School may find the opportunity very informative. Additionally, the Exchange Program allows students to experience a new culture, and to learn about subjects and participate in events that may not be offered at their respective school. During your term at Beauxbatons, you will:

Quill Requirements |
Students who participate in the Exchange Program have the opportunity to study at another school while still gaining HOL credit. As such, you will need to meet certain requirements in order to "pass" this program and earn your HOL quill. Depending on your success in each Exchange Activity, you will be able to earn HOL House Points, just like a regular class. In order to earn your quill for this program, you must achieve at least 150 House Points, which is considered an "Acceptable" by the Exchange Program Grading System, as shown below:
Each month, there will be up to sixty points available for completing work related to that month's activity. As such, you could gain a total of 300 HOL House Points for this class. |
Deadlines & Extensions |
We understand that you have other obligations related to your home school of HOL, so we will only be offering one activity or "lesson" per month, so that you can spend the rest of your time doing work for your other classes. You are welcome to do your work wherever you see fit; your Student Guide will likely mention some of the best study spots for you during your tour of the Palace. If you do not own an owl personally, the Exchange Program will happily provide one for you so that you may submit other homeworks and such on time.
We have decided to allow students to complete the work on their own schedule throughout the term. That being said, we do need you to take the Exchange seriously, as it is a privilege to be able to study abroad at another Wizarding Education Institute! Please also remember that, come the end of the term, you will be returning to your home school of HOL on the scheduled date. You may not stay a few extra days to finish up the work! The final due date for all work (i.e. the day the carriage will take you back home to HOL!) is January 18th, 2017, at 11:59PM HOL time! |
Awards |
Both Beauxbatons Academy and the HOL Exchange Program offer awards to students who excel during their stay. Below is a list of awards students may be able to earn during the Exchange:
Beauxbatons Uniform: Awarded to all students who complete the Introductory Project and the Final Project. Beauxbatons Award of Appreciation: Given to students who really fit in or excelled at Beauxbatons. Exchange Program Postcard: Given to students who attempted all 300 points offered in the class. |
